Pack light like a proHave you ever gone on a trip and felt weighed down (literally) by your luggage? We don't know about you, but the team at The Children of Stars are all about packing light these days, and having been to 36 countries, co-founder Sian has become pretty nifty at economical packing. Not only can you waltz out of the airport terminal without having to wait for the baggage carousel, but it makes travelling on foot, even with your luggage easy. You need to wait hours to check into your accommodation? No problem! Choose a capsule wardrobeIn order to put together an effective travel capsule wardrobe, you need to choose a very limited colour palette – this way everything you take will coordinate, allowing a wide choice of outfit combos. A great for European cities is the classic red, white and blue trio of hues. Fresh, fun and sophisticated, this combination is so easy to wear. Pack white tees and loose cotton shirts, denim jeans, a red scarf and top off your packing with a tan trench or black leather jacket (ok, we know these don't strictly fit in the palette but these two styles go with EVERYTHING). Don't leave it until the last minute! The key to packing well is to allow yourself time to fine tune your selection of items. Have you ever been frantically tossing clothes in a bag a few hours before and flight, only later to wonder why you bought a head torch to Paris and your bag weights 30kg for two days?! In order to pack lightly, you need to start putting items aside at least a week before you go. This means when you come to pack, it's just about editing. Be ruthless. Take away excess pieces. And don't add anything!
So, next time you book a weekend city break, don't break your back lugging a huge suitcase to the airport, do yourself a favour and time a little more time to pack light instead. Not only will you same money by travelling with a small carry-on, but finding a great outfit for every day or night of your trip will be a breeze. For the perfect accessory to your bijou new bag, add a luggage tag from The Children of Stars. The stars represent our uniqueness as individuals, while the design reminds us that we shine #BrighterTogether. And don't forget that £1.75 from each tag goes to grassroots charity The Worldwide Tribe who helps refugees who have been forced from their homes due to conflict, and don't share the luxury to travel as they please. |
